Due date FAQ
How do you calculate an invoice due date?
Add the number of days in the payment term to the invoice date, counting calendar days including weekends. An invoice dated March 10 with Net 30 terms is due April 9.
Does Net 30 count from the invoice date or when the client receives it?
From the invoice date, unless your contract says otherwise. That is why it helps to send the invoice on the same day you date it.
What if the due date falls on a weekend or holiday?
Net terms count calendar days, so the due date does not move on its own. Many businesses accept payment on the next business day, so say so in your terms if you want a different rule.
What is the difference between EOM and prox terms?
EOM terms count from the last day of the invoice month, so Net 30 EOM on a March invoice is due April 30. Prox terms name a day in the next month, so 15th prox on a March invoice is due April 15.
